Gallbladder removal and pre op exams?

I had my first gallbladder attack two weeks ago. Ever since I've completely avoided eating fats and dairy products. Two days ago I had skim milk and it had a bad effect on me. A week ago the surgeon ran some bloodwork exams. I saw him this morning and he said the blood work was normal, my ALT and AST levels were back to normal. So I've been scheduled for surgery for this Thurs (in two days). I asked about pre op exams and he said "you are young and healthy and don't need a medical clearance". I've had asthma for years and I suffer from GERD once in a while. I also suffer from migraines. I saw my neurologist and she said everything was good, my migraines are under control. Should I be worried? I thought chest xrays and ekgs etc were necessary before surgery. Should I see a pulmonologist?

What can I do to not get sick when I take iron?

I am 28 weeks pregnant and my Dr. office called and told me I am anemic and that I am to take a prescription iron pill. I always get severe stomach cramps and vomiting when I take any kind of vitamin containing iron. The vomiting and stomach cramps when I take iron was happening before I was pregnant and even as a child so I know its not just pregnancy related. As a result of this my Dr. told me not to take prenatal vitamins and I have been doing fine up until now. The pill doesn't even stay down long enough to have a chance to have to even start to really do any good. Sorry if TMI. I also have been slightly anemic my entire life because of my other health conditions witch limit the amount of a lot of foods I can eat. I have IBS-D and my GI Dr. has told me I am to not eat anything that causes "gas" in the intestines. So that eliminates Broccoli (I love broccoli) and any green leafy vegetable. I also have to severely limit how much red meat I eat as it causes me pain to digest. I also have Fibromyalgia and Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) and GERD. The fibromyalgia aggravates everything else causing the symptoms I feel to be more pronounced. (thought I would give a little more background on my situation if it helps at all).I was just wondering if anyone else has this issue and what if anything I can do to take the iron pill with out the "side effects"

Would breathing tests show signs of cancer ?

Im 22, and i have had gastritis and gerd several times.. For the last month I have been having bad problems with heartburn. Help with what to wear?

i am a 19 year old male and i am attending a wedding on saturday. the wedding is at a winery that is on the water (with beach). the ceremony is all outside, and the reception is in a tent. the only thing that i am having trouble with is picking an outfit. i thought i had picked a good one, but i am beginning to think that it's a little too casual. the outfit was black dress shoes, black pants, a white dress shirt that is made for semi casual occasions (i think) and a black tank underneath and the dress shirt would be unbuttoned but tucked in. if you do agree that that outfit is too casual, any recommendations on what i could wear? i have a suit just in case i don't find anything, but i really didn't want to wear it. i want something that looks fashionable and "cool" but above all, appropriate for the occasion. thanks!!!!

Where can I find a decent looking laptop bag for a 17.5 inch Toshiba?

I'm having a horrible time finding a suitable laptop bag for my 17.5 incher. All of the nice looking ones are for much smaller models. I've come across some that say they will "fit" up to a 17.5 inch, but I also worry about the strength of the bag and straps. It's a Toshiba Satellite. Does anyone have any personal experience with bags to fit this or a similar model? The only ones I've found that might work are very basic, cheap-looking black bags. You are crazy if you wear a �450 jacket to a homeless shelter!! The jeans, a t-shirt and a pair of runners is fine, but the scarf and sunnies are too much. Just a regular pullover would be fine. These people are homeless. You need to adapt what you wear to the people around you. You'll look as overdressed as someone in a ballgown at a picnic. It can be seen as offensive to wear such expensive clothing in front of people who can't afford a meal or a place to stay for the night, so be mindful of the sensitivities of those around you.

My father had it done - the one where a balloon is inflated in the esophagus - he was back to being a very active person within a couple days....didn't take any time at all for him to get back to normal life. He wasn't even prescribed a pain killer. I will tell you this though - it improved his life immeasurably. Don't let fear deter you if you have tried other things that haven't worked as well as you would like.

Is he bi or straight?

You see i myself have recently come out of the closet. However, the main reason why i finally realized who i really am is because of this guy at my school. I have already taken a few steps by becoming friends with him. When we started hanging out he acted a little different than any of my other straight friends did. He's do things like spend 30 min on his hair, he'd always dress fashionable, make the whole direct eye contact deal and what not, plus he wasn't afraid to get up close like most straight guys do right. At first the one thing that was bothering me the most was my feelings for him, it was all fairly new to me and now they are even stronger than ever. However, my feelings were eating at me constantly so one day i came out and told him that I am gay, and he was rly accepting of that. Which was really nice, because I thought that he wouldn't be. Then he started to act a little but more flirty than usual. He'd make more flirty conversation with me as in; calling me stud all the time and little compliments to make me feel better. After a week of that i felt even worse, so i came out and told him that I am into him. He wasn't surprised. He told me that he already knew just like he knew how I was gay. After i finally came out in every possible way to him, he still acts flirty and sends me even more mixed signals. When i told him that i am into him, he was like "You know im straight right?" still a quite clear answer, but why didn't he say that he didn't feel the same way. Now that i have gotten through that i can explain how he acts well more gay than me. Firstly whenever we hangout now he makes alot of physical contact even after I have explained my feelings quite throughly. Personally I have noticed that guys who are really fashionable get the whole 'gay' thing and that girls go a lot more for the guys who dress simply but with taste. For example you could go with both jeans and a tee shirt but make sure that they match etc. I like it when guys know what colors look good together, how to layer clothing attractively and what patterns to wear and which to stay away from. My advice is stay away from 'fashionable' for now and just go with something tasteful.

What is wrong with me?

I'm not sure what is wrong with me, but since last Friday I have been feeling really sick. Sometimes it's worse than other times, but I feel like nausea after I eat, and my sides hurt (Not at the same time). I also will have chest pain on both sides (also not at the same time), and sometimes it feels like hot, or cold in my chest. It's really odd. It just started happening last Friday. I keep thinking that maybe I have acid-reflux, or GERD, but my doctor hasn't found anything like that. Every time I go to my doctors all of my vital signs are fine. They keep telling me it's my anxiety. Sometimes it gets so bad that I feel like I'm going to pass out. I have problems with swallowing, and my throat feels like it's closing, which I already know that's my anxiety. I get weird little symptoms that are just odd sometimes. Right now I have a cold which is making me feel tens times worse than usual. I just am worried, and think I might need to go into my doctor again, and see if it's something else. It makes life much harder too when my family that I live with is unsympathetic, and can't comprehend what anxiety feels like. I'm also not taking any medications right now for it, and I haven't seen my doctor in several weeks due to me not liking her. I was thinking also that maybe it could be stress too with my anxiety feeling worse since the last week we moved into a rental, and were going to have to move again, and I had my Graduation, and finals. I thought that it was stress at first, but it still hasn't gone away. If any one has any ideas, or advice I would take it in a heartbeat. I don't like feeling like this all the time.

Yep, One way the Air Force is cutting back is not taking any waivers (at the moment). Navy isn't taking anyone with an ASVAB score under 50 (at the moment) BTW my Navy recruiter told me that. I don't know how the others are cutting back, but they are as well. High school graduates also have top priority over anyone with a GED as long as the meet the requirements. The Army just like any other branch has only a few spots for people with GED's to sign up, and im pretty sure at this time of the year they are full. If I were you I would go for it anyway, you may have a chance, at least talk to a recruiter about it.

My son was on almost every formula out there because he had problems similar to your daughters but he wasn't vomiting until we put him on the Similac Alimentum and the Nutragimen. We had him on the Enfamil Prosobee Soy and he was doing really good on it but got constipated from it, so we switched him to the Similac Sensitive and he is doing really good. I would try that. My son's doctor had us switching formula so much I wanted to scream. There is a possibility that you daughter hates the Nutragimen. It does stink awfully bad and doesn't mix very well either. My son hated it and would scream when we tried to give it to him, same with the Alimentum and Good Starts. He hated the taste of them. Try the Similac Sensitve, also try plenty of gas drops, LIttle Tummy's gripe water. Also something I just found out was that the powdered of most formulas have Enflora in them which causes constipation and the liquids do not. So try the things above and see how that works. I know your frustration as my son is 6 months old and we have had our share of formula switches, giving zantac and vomiting. Good luck to you.

How long can one hope to live with GERD?

I have GERD (reflux disease) for about a year now. I take medications and strictly follow all restrictions, and have never smoked or drunk in my entire life. Yet this can only be controlled and not cured altogether. Have you any idea if there's any real cure to it apart from conventional meds, which only alleviate the symptoms? GERD and dance / run?

I have heart palpitation and tachycardia also PAC so the doctor advise me to excersize but for cardio i have to reach my target heart rate and sustain that range so to get that i have to do intense excersize. The best one for cardio is running but i can't do that since id feel sick but walking is not enough that's what my doctor said. So i do fast walking regularly also dancing since i love dancing. I thought maybe that could help too (i hope) but i dont force myself so if i feel bad i take a rest untill i feel fine and continue. I've been doing that for a couple of months regularly and i feel fine untill now. But i read that dance can make GERD worse so i'm worried. Have any of you with GERD tried dancing or aerobic? And so what happened? What are the signs that you shouldn't do it? If you don't experience burning/reflux/pain during/after excersize, does it mean it's okay to continue? But i'm worried if it can make it worse or maybe months later.

My son also has this and was colic. He has slept in the fisher price rock and roll sleeper since he came home from the hospital. I highly recommend buying this!! It cost $50.00 at babies r us. Why am I still getting diarrhea every morning?

I have the worst colon so I feel for you. I have tried drinking fiber. I've tried being sure I have all my water in. Nothing seems to work. I bought some probiotics from cvs and they didn't do a darn thing. I bought some online and they worked. I looked into it and found out that the ones I bought have a special coating that other probiotics dont have. The other ones burn up in your stomach and dont make it to your colon where they belong.Here is where I bought them....oh btw...I took the probiotics and prebiotics, but I guess if you took just the probiotics you could find out if they work on their own. Then if they don't add the prebiotics. the probiotics are a tiny little pearl of a pill. The prebiotics are a powder you just mix in with your juice or whatever. It had kind of a fruity flavor.

I have been sick for a long time now (about 4 years now) I had lost weight and have been having really bad tummy aches and constatnt nausea. And when I lay down at night I would get "wet belches". I would burp and taste vomit in my mouth but I never actually would vomit. I would also get diarreah sometimes. But my symptoms (nausea tummy aches) would sometimes increase during my period.My doctor finally diagonsed me with GERD after asking me a few questions. I had been tested for ALOT of crazy things in the past but all came out negative. So I was so relieve to hear a diagnoses. But the doctor told me to take Zantac but it made my tummy hurt 10x`s worse so I stoped taking it after 2 days. So now she switched me to Prilosect OTC. Now I am so scared of taking medications. I never self medicate for anything. Not even a common cold. And my first medication was for a UTI and the antibiotics made me feel really sick and so did the Zantac. So my medication history was not a good one because it always made me sicker. Thats why I have not started taking the new medication yet. So my question is, how bad are the sideffects of Prilosec OTC? Since im using it to treat my GERD symptoms instead of heartburn would it still make me nauseated? Thats my main concern now. Im almost always nauseated and having tummy aches so I really dont want to take anything that would contribute to that. I just want it to stop once and for all. I just want to feel healthy and normal again. I really dont want the pills to make it worse. If you have GERD and take Prilosect OTC please tell me how it worked for you and what I should expect for me. Also if there are any other GERD medications out there with little to no side effects that you know of and or have taken please do educate me on them. I get severe esophageal spasms. I am on Nitro patches for it. Yes, Nitro. They do stop the spasms and they most certainly mimic heart attacks. Before my Dr put me on them, he too was concerned about my heart, but like you, all tests were normal. I have reflux as well. Mind if I tell you what happens with spasms? When you secrete too much stomach acid, it will splash again the esophagus and cause these spasms. Sometimes, the Nitro doesn't work and I get a little scared. I have endoscopes every 6 months. They are scary and it sounds like you have those spasms. Taking an ulcer medication slows down the rate of secretion of stomach acid. Good luck.

I have my leavers ball in a few weeks and I need some advice on colours. My dress is plain empire line chiffon, with a column style skirt. IPod has a growing gray bar?

There is a gray bar growing in mid screen on my iPod touch and the pixels are dying. What I don't understand is how are the pixels dieing in a certain order... like one pixel dies and the one next to it dies (thus creating the bar) and its continuing upwards in a fashionable order. At first I had a mild stomach pain. Turned out I have H Pylori+Gastritis+GERD! The Dr prescribed me antibiotics but it didn't kill H Pylori. So Dr prescribed me Pylera. It had horrible side-effects. But I took it all for 10 days with Omeprazole and I am still taking Omeprazole (40mg/day). I still feel bad. Acid reflux bothers my throat and esophagus so much and I always feel nauseas, tired, dizzy, depressed... I didn't have these problems before taking the medications. Maybe I shouldn't have trusted the doctors and shouldn't have taken the meds. I think I have destroyed my healthy body with harsh medications. Lump in throat sensation/trouble swallowing?

I've had a lump in my throat sensation/throat feeling tight/dysphagia/slow swallowing off/on for 5 months now. I did a Barrium Swallow test and everything turmed out fine. I also had an endoscopy done and still nothing found in my throat. Then the doctors said it might be from GERD (acid reflux). They said try different antacids to treat it. I did that and it helped very little. A few months ago I lost 11 lbs. from 80 lbs. to 69 lbs. cuz I didn't a lot cuz of dysphagia. Then a month ago I was starting to eat better until now. But it is still slow in swallowing. I am 17 and a half yrs old and diagnosed with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) since the age of 5. Other than that I am totally healthy. Also lately I fall asleep all of a sudden for no reason. I feel sleepy off/on throughout the day. I get kinda light headed sometimes/extra beats/nauseous/anxiety/etc. Before my throat problem, I drank more fluids. Now I drink 1 glass the whole day. Do u think its from not drinking enough that I get these symptoms. I am sort of worried.

I took my perscription and then I threw up, should I take them again?

Needing help with a 14 month old not sleeping through the night.?

I have a 14 months old son who still does not sleep all night. give a little back ground on him- he was lactose intolerant, gerd and colicky all at the same time. he is no longer lactose or colicky but still had some problems with gerd. SEVERE Acid Reflux at 13?

im 13 and last year i got diagnosed with acid reflux. since then, i took zantac 150 once every morning. this past november it started to get worse so my doctor prescribed me zantac 150 twice a day- morning AND night every day. im still taking that. then in january it worsened even more, pain where i can't sleep which causes fever, i feel sick, and i could barely eat a full meal. my doctor told my mom to bring me to a stomach doctor at a local childrens hospital. she told me to eat a small meal every 3 hours. and she ordered me an endoscopy which i got early april. no tumor, by BAD, SEVERE inflammation in my stomach. since then, it still got worse. i developed bad lower back/kidney pain, severe abdominal pain, headaches (from behind my eyes to down behind my ears and down my neck), vomiting, fevers, dizzy spells/fainting, and worsened stomach (under my left rib) and chest pain. my doctor suspected stomach cancer twice, blood results came back normal. but now, everything is worsening and i feel light headed most of the day, some days so dizzy i faint. and im loosing weight constantly. i went from 104 to 100 since mid-may. my next stomach doctor appointment is july 1st. does anyone know why my pain could be worsening (preferably someone who has acid reflux/GERD)? any tips to sooth the pain?
