Is it illegal to download Sims 3 for free?

I already bought the game but my laptop doesn't have a disc cartridge so I had to put it on my sisters laptop. I went to piratebay.org and it's free to download there but I don't know if it's legal. Would I go to jail for downloading it I am 16? Is there any sims game you can download legally for free?
