What kind of sewing machine should I buy?

I'm a beginner, just starting classes. My goal is to create fashionable clothes for plus size women and maybe further down the road having my own line. As a beginner just learning, what is the best sewing machine I can buy without breaking the bank? A lot of them are incredibly different and have separate purposes. Can you tell i'm a total noob? haha.
