I have abdominal pain and I am not sure what I should do?

I have been dealing with abdominal pain on a constant basis day and night. I have seen dr's and they kept telling me I have GERD but the doctor that I saw yesterday told me that was not what I have...My abdominal pain and chest pain is a very constant pain since it has not gone away whether I have eaten food or not. At night, I am so uncomfortable because of the abdomen pain I am feeling I cannot lay down so I have to put pillows behind me to make me sit up while I fall asleep. I also have coughing fits especially at night before I fall asleep, sometimes my coughing fits make me gag so much that I am running into the bathroom to throw up at night. My pain sometimes rates on a 7-8 which is on a scale of 1-10...The last dr is trying to authorize a referral through my insurance to be seen by someone who can perform an endoscopy so they can look into my stomach to find out what is causing the pain since when the dr touched my stomach I cringed since it hurt so much and he realized how much pain I was in.
